Dr. Jason Spector, DPM, MS, AACFAS

Dr. Jason Spector considers himself a true Floridian, having been born, raised, and professionally trained in Florida. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He then completed his medical school training at Barry University School of Medicine in Miami, Florida.

After, he matched into a renowned surgical-based Foot and Ankle residency program at Northwest Medical Center in Margate, Florida. He served as Chief Resident during his third year and published numerous pieces of literature. He was also recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association and honored with an award at the Advanced Wound Care Symposium. He then completed the Bako Podiatric Dermatology Fellowship Program where he focused Dermatopathology, Pathology and had rotations in Histology, Epidermal Nerve Fiber testing, Bacteriology, and Mycology.

Dr. Spector went on to complete his training in Saint Petersburg, Florida at a distinguished Fellowship program under renowned podiatric and orthopaedic surgeons. In addition to providing best in class orthopaedic care, this institution was named one of the six Centers of Excellence by the American Orthopaedic Society of 3D printing in the United States. During this time, he was exposed to a considerable variety of patient customized surgical instrumentation and implants. In fact, several cases performed were the first in the world to be done.

Education & Training

Dr. Spector’s fellowship provided comprehensive training in the Foot and Ankle specialty with emphasis including:

• Extensive exposure to Total Ankle Replacement techniques, rationale and development
• Advanced surgical reconstructive techniques utilizing customized surgery with 3D printing and Patient Specific Implants/Instrumentation
• Advanced techniques in both internal/external fixation
• Complex deformity correction planning and execution
• Peripheral nerve surgery
• Evaluation of new and innovative surgical techniques and new product evaluation
• Utilization of advanced orthobiologics and regenerative medicine surgical integration
• Complex foot & ankle reconstruction and diabetic limb salvage including Charcot reconstruction
• Advanced arthroscopic techniques
• Pediatric patient management and surgical rationale
• Foot and ankle trauma
• Expertise and unique insight into Letters of Protection, Automobile accidents and Worker’s Compensation cases

 

About Dr. Jason Spector

Despite the extensive focus and exposure to advanced foot and ankle surgery, Dr. Spector believes an integral part of his practice is his unique post-operative pain protocol. Undergoing any surgical procedure can understandably cause a significant amount of anxiety and stress for
patients, especially when dwelling on potential pain during the postoperative period. Incorporating the latest recommendations from surgical and medical literature, this regimen aims to not only reduce post-operative pain but also supports the reduction of swelling while expediting patient’s recovery. He believes this is an extremely valuable tool to help streamline the post-operative process and increase patient satisfaction.

Dr. Spector has always believed in becoming a leader in his field and is currently on the Fellowship Committee for the Florida Board of Podiatric Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine as well as an associate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, an important distinction within the field. He holds memberships to the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Spector has given lectures at state recognized meetings and published novel literature on several innovative and groundbreaking techniques. In our rapidly evolving world of medicine, Physicians must remain active learners and have persistent commitment towards their expertise. He believes it is vital to continuously advance his knowledge, which can have a direct impact on patient outcomes.

Dr. Spector is very passionate about giving back and has been involved in numerous organizations such the Special Olympics, American Diabetes Association, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, and several Homeless Clinics and Outreach centers. In 2019, he went on a mission trip to Yucatan, Mexico where he evaluated and assisted in performing reconstructive surgery on pediatric patients in need with severe and debilitating foot and leg disorders. He is
always inspired to change lives and believes in giving back to the community as much as possible.

To his patients, Dr. Spector is committed to putting their health as his number one priority. His goal is to treat every patient like family and spend the time to help them feel confident in their treatment. Dr. Spector lives in Lakewood Ranch with his wife and beautiful baby girl. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys running, cycling and playing sports in his free time.
